Welcome and thank you for visiting the web site hosted by ACE Academy!  ACE Academy is a strict discipline academy (SDA) located in Highland Park, Michigan for adjudicated males ages 12-20.  ACE Academy was established in September of 2007 in partnership with Spectrum Juvenile Justice Services (SJJS) and edtec central, LLC, our educational service provider.  The  Academy is the first-ever strict discipline academy authorized by Central Michigan University (CMU).  Our primary focus is to re-engage our students in the active pursuit of self-improvement, interpersonal growth, and educational development
ACE Academy  was founded on the belief that all students can learn and grow if provided a nurturing and challenging environment where expectations are high and support is bountiful.  We operate in a highly specialized setting catering specifically to the needs of students whom for any number of reasons, have disengaged from the learning process within a traditional school setting.  Our goal is to provide a stable educational experience throughout the entire time our youth are being served by the larger social service system.  We invite you to learn more about ACE Academy by browsing our web site and thank you for stopping by.

Initiative Science Onsite Event:  ACE Academy was once again host to an onsite science event from Initiative Science.  This fall's event, titled "Meteorites: Aliens Among Us", was held at Calumet Center on Monday, November 21st and at Lincoln Center on Friday, December 2nd.
As described by Initiative Science, "This program brings the science of meteorites, along with several other forms of interdisciplinary science into the classroom. A live presentation with footage of actual meteorite hunts, documentation and analysis of specimens, meteorite specimens for students to handle and a Q&A session encourage students to pursue environmental careers. Moreover, entrepreneurship is a reoccurring theme, as meteorites are quite sought after and often have monetary value. Each school receives a meteorite specimen for their science department and a copy of the book "Rocks From Space" by Richard Norton. Each student and/or teacher receives an actual meteorite specimen to keep, as well."
Check out our Showcase, Initiative Science page, for pictures of the event coming soon!

The third annual Empty bowls event was held at the Boll Family YMCA on Thursday, November 17th from 6:00 PM - 8:30 PM.  The event included a presentation at 7:00 PM, a meal of hot soups and breads donated by local vendors, and display of ceramic bowls created by the students of ACE Academy, available for purchase. The event was a tremendous success, with donations totaling over $2000 to date.  ACE Academy would like to thank those who attended this special event, local sponsors who donated soup, bread, and supplies, and the local community for their support.  To view photos from the event and hear a sample of music created by the students, please visit our Empty Bowls page.

At our academy, we strive to provide authentic learning opportunities for students through special events and services. We work closely with Initiative Science, a Michigan based company out of Ann Arbor, to provide S.T.E.M activities for students from onsite science events, cloud-based learning in English and Math, and field trips.  We believe that this partnership will allow us to provide unique ways to bring science and math to life for our students, opening their eyes to the wonders of the world and sharpening their skills in the process.  For more information on Initiative Science, please click here.
